Some Days

Some days
All of the desks
Line up
The floor is clean
And the carpet doesn’t need
Sweeping

The internet strength
glows excellent
the computer connects and
the smartboard is calibrated

The staplers willingly mash papers
tape is not tangled
glue runs freely
the markers are juicy with ink

Some days the sky is pristine
The air is transparently clear
The sky pulls me to itself
Adding inches and enlarging my
Spirit

Some days the song
That runs through my head
Is one of gratitude and hope

The children are all fed
There is plenty on the table
Their houses are heated and the
Minds are at rest

They exude curiosity and kindness
Books are dropped and many hands
Stop to scoop them up.

Some days
Today
